ArcoSteel Employment Perks

Introduction

The Arab Company for Special Steel (ArcoSteel) welcomes all the new employees. We present to you this employee handbook and guide to the company and our employee perks and services.

Training

ArcoSteel aims to always improve our employees’ abilities and performance. To ensure that our employees receive the best possible training, we’ve established a fully equipped training hall within our company headquarters.

Training types provided by the company for its employees:

  • External training (both national and international) by arranging agreements with accredited organizations. Such as, The Arab Union for Metal and Steel, and the Japanese Grants Foundation (HIDA).

  • Internal training: This involves training programs that pass on experiences to improve an employee’s effectiveness. As well as training programs that take place during work (On Job Training).

Employees at ArcoSteel get access to the digital library on our intranet, for both scientific and cultural resources. This library is constantly updated with the latest resources and training material. We pay very close attention to safety, and make sure all employees are well trained in occupational health and safety protocols. In addition to all the details concerning the workplace and periodical inspections on uniform and safety guidelines.

ArcoSteel also takes part in community service through:

  • Training technical school students, like the Mubarak Kohl School.

  • Organizing summer training programs for university students, like students from the faculty of petroleum and mining engineering at The Workers University.

Medical Services

Within the company, employees have access to a medical clinic. With all the necessary first aid, and a doctor available 24-hours, as well as a fully equipped ambulance. ArcoSteel provides employees with a health program, that allows employees to receive free treatment at hospitals and health centers we’ve partnered with.

Other Services

  • At ArcoSteel employees have access to a large mosque situated behind the clinic, in addition to a prayer room inside the office building.

  • Every year the company arranges summer vacation houses for the employees. Paid for almost entirely by the company.

  • There are certain perks that are given out yearly, like the offerings during Eid Al-Adha, and pastries for the celebrations of the birth of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

  • We organize several sporting events throughout the year for our employees.

  • We also organize a yearly sweepstake for an Umrah.

Contracting Policies

Working Hours

  • At ArcoSteel we have a 5-day work week, which is organized into shifts. With 8 hours per shift.

  • Upon being hired, each employee receives an electronic card that is swiped to clock in and out.

Annual Leave

  • Employees who’ve completed one year of service, receive a 21-day paid leave. This can reach up to 30 days if the employee has spent 10 years or more at the company. Employees over the age of 50 also receive a 30-day annual leave. These leave days do not include any national holidays, official celebrations, or weekends.

  • Another 7 days are added to the annual leave, as the company is considered one that undergoes strenuous or hazardous labor, involves health risks, or takes place in remote locations.

  • If the employee spent less than a year, he is entitled to days leave relative to the time he spent at the company. As long as the employee has been with the company for no less than 6 months.

  • Newly hired employees still in their 3-month probation period are entitled to 3-days leave as an exception.

Sick Leave

  • Every employee has the right to sick leave for every 3 years spent in service. The employee receives 1 month paid in full, then 8 months for 75% of his salary, then 3 unpaid months. This is in the case that the medical committee has recognized his potential to recover.

  • The employee can transfer days from his annual leave towards his sick leave and vice versa, as long as he has enough leave days available.

Monthly Dues/Gains

  • Monthly salary: The main goal of the company is to achieve equality and fairness among our employees. To ensure this we’ve placed a compensation table that determines each employee’s salary based on his role and position.

  • Monthly bonuses: The bonuses are directly related to an employee’s output, so it encourages employees to increase productivity and their output by working together as a team to achieve the company’s goals.
